You tag it "beyond metaphor", but you're sticking very, very close to the standard fantasy-inspired RPG metaphor. I'd recommend taking a look at stuff like
Character Strengths and Virtues (Book - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia or
MBTI types for inspiration.
