I heard Barbara Corcoran speak a few nights ago at a seminar for Women in Business. In case you don't know, she founded the Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage firm in NYC and recently sold it for 66 million. She made two key points:
1) Nobody wants what nobody wants. Everybody wants what everybody wants. She illustrated this with a story about a friend of her mother's who had 7 Jack Russell pups to sell. She made appointments for noon with 25 different people to come see the puppies. When everyone saw everyone else there, they couldn't wait to purchase a pup!
2) Some say hard work gets rewarded. Hard work doesn't get rewarded. In this day and age, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gets rewarded. (That's an exact quote!) She is referring in this point to the media, and how one can use it to get free publicity.
