It is mysteriously quiet isn't it. I think you just hit the nail on the head. Image rules, or maybe interest rates. The US has appointed itself as the bastion of truth. Good, kind, fair, honest folks, despite their shady, terrorist past (oops I mean brave, colonists, frontiersman and explorers past), and as you point out, questionable present. Can you imagine the outcry if other countries leaders did the same thing. On the same note, I can't believe Bill Clinton is still running around making a fortune giving public lectures.
