Hi Andwan, sorry I couldn't respond earlier.

Ignoring one's problems will, of course, not make them go away. If you walk around with a stone in your shoe, ignoring it won't remove the stone.

I think much of what SR describes is not ignoring those sorts of issues, but being present to them without becoming emotionally involved in them. It's maybe like, "Yes, there's a stone in my shoe. It's irritating me, and that's causing me to be short with people around me. But the stone is just a trigger; it's my own mental processes that are causing that trigger to affect my relationships. So the issue isn't the stone, it's my thought patterns..." instead of, "GAWDDAMMIT, that farking thing hurts!"

For the record, I don't really have a lot of belief in the whole spirit guide thing; it's just not a metaphor that works for me. But hey, if it floats your boat, by all means...
