Hey dude, I am 20 too and consider myself an unorthodox geek as well.

Try looking at your computer skills as one small asset to something far greater that you will be doing/accomplishing in life. I find that by looking back to when I was a child and remembering all of the really 'out there' ideas I got excited about (like building a spaceship in my barn because Dexter could do it in his underground lab).

These childhood ideas have more refinement now, but, the emotional content is still there. I go off on wild fantasies about alot of these ideas.

You may be interested in looking up alternative higher education as well.
