What I'm thinking is that... Instead of trying to suppress those thoughts or bury them, ask yourself what do I need to do...? So, an example might be

Then mentally say to yourself, "o.k. I heard that thought / feeling, what do I need to do...?" and see what kind of responses you get (either mentally or externally)
