I feel that the probability of a catastrophic event like this which would include the collapse of, not only the banking system, but pretty much everything to be really low. I mean, sure we are all taking the risk of NOT investing in non-perishable food, but the risk is so low its almost negligible.

I think that if it does happen, all the rules go out the window and when people find out you have two years of food saved up, you'll have a LOT of people to fend off.

We're all used to a modern market where everything is readily available, so I'm sure that you are right to an extent. You can laugh at us all if the world does collapse.
