And why stick to classical? I know of a few rock songs that are all instrumental, Jessica by the Allman Brother Band comes to mind.
I'm with you about the Myspace/Facebook thing. I use to keep in touch with people but sometimes looking at other's profiles makes me feel bad.
you know those few songs you said were making you sad..don't listen to them!! instead of avoiding music altogether maybe you can listen to something that makes you happy, or some classical, opera, or anything instrumental. Yeah, isn't that facebook craze annoying!!?? I used to go on myspace for hours a day...we're talking about 3 hours a day, and in the summer it shot to about 8!!! just think about all the other(even better!!) stuff you could be doing without it. for example, join a club, or sport, and help out those less fortunate...that'll make you feel good about yourself, instead of going through 100s of profiles on facebook! at the end of the day, see how AMAZING you'll feel having cut back this "addiction" hehe

good luck! let me know how things are going
