I'm thinking of just trying the simple noticing your breathe, watching your thoughts kind of meditation. I'll do it twice a day, at least 10 minutes, and I'll try to build it up day by day.

10 minutes is a bit short. Your mind would just be getting settled, and then it's over.
I would suggest at least 20 minutes, and once a day instead of twice.
