Its indeed not a clear line and your right consciousness isn't opposed to technology at all. As I said I couldn't find a better picture to illustrate what I meant exactly. Perhaps think of it as a balance scale and the balance is slowly shifting towards consciousness.

About technology and consciousness;
Technology+consciousness= good times and fun
Technology without consciousness= rough times and destruction

Basically technology is a 2 sided coin (and there's a blur in between but lets forget about that for a second) on one side you've got consciously used technology for 'good' (depends on your definition obv.) such as medical care or this website. On the other side you've got abuse of technology, think weaponry/nuclear weapons/etc.. The more advanced you become the stronger each 'side' gets and the greater the danger. This process of advancing is speeding up right now (for instance computer speed is doubling every 18 months) and so are the dangers. If you have conscious use of technology then the end result is most of the time positive for the general population. If you have unconscious use of technology than the end result is most of the time negative for the general population.
