Once I go to put that personal effort into overcoming the anonymity I "know" you, so I don't have any anxiety about communicating with you.

Talking about this in terms of “bad news” or “bad judgment by business leaders” seems archaic. It’s like describing World War One as “a serious diplomatic concern.”
