"Focus on what you want, rather than what you don't want."

This quote was said in the movie "The Secret" and is one that should be a common thought in all of us. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer is really a true statement. People who are rich stay rich because that is all they are thinking about. It is their intention. They do everything that it takes to stay at the comfort level that the are used to.

It doesn't matter how a person gets his money. They have it because they are driven. For example, someone who is a ganster does bad things to stay rich. They are motivated by their lifestyle, so they think of anyway they can get more money even if it is illegal. On the other side you have people who are rich and they use their money to help other people. This individuals motivation is heliping people, so they work hard to stay rich so that they continue giving.

The person who is poor tends to think about how poor they are. They focus on their bills, their bad health, their bad relationships. If this is all you are thinking about that is what you will continue to get. The bills can become so overwhelming sometimes we just do nothing. Not acting does nothing to improve your situation. In order to change you must start thinking positively.

Start by being thankful for what you already have. When you are in this mentality it is easy to focus on how you are going to your intentions into manifestations. It is a process. It's hard to change your routine but if you work at it you can take control of your life.

Feel free to tell me what you think this quote means, "In Your Own Words."

Thanks for Listening.
It's so weird (sort of, it happens allot) that you made this post... You see like two days ago I got to thinking about focus. The thought was in reference to the LOA, meaning if LOA is always working (whether your aware of it or not), then what it boils down to is focus... Like you said.

I also think there's a level of feeling involved to bring about the opportunities or situations that help you to achieve your goal. Using your example above, A gangster (as you put it) thinks like a gangster, feels like a gangster and acts like a gangster... Thus, attracting gangster elements into their life (whether they're aware of it or not). Without even realizing that their the cause of this, they may say "oh, that's just my life or thats just the way I am".
Thus, acting on those gangster elements and the cycle continues.

Now, where the power comes in is in the ability to understand this and make the necessary changes to live the life you dream of... Which as you suggest requires focus (along with sustained and consecutive thought).

A quote from (The science of getting rich): Chapter 4
Quote:
Every man has the natural and inherent power to think what he wants to think, but it requires far more effort to do so than it does to think the thoughts which are suggested by appearances. To think according to appearance is easy; to think truth regardless of appearances is laborious, and requires the expenditure of more power than any other work man is called upon to perform.

There is no labor from which most people shrink as they do from that of sustained and consecutive thought; it is the hardest work in the world. This is especially true when truth is contrary to appearances. Every appearance in the visible world tends to produce a corresponding form in the mind which observes it; and this can only be prevented by holding the thought of the TRUTH.

This power can only be acquired by getting hold of the basic fact which is behind all appearances; and that fact is that there is one Thinking Substance, from which and by which all things are made.

Then we must grasp the truth that every thought held in this substance becomes a form, and that man can so impress his thoughts upon it as to cause them to take form and become visible things.

When we realize this, we lose all doubt and fear, for we know that we can create what we want to create; we can get what we want to have, and can become what we want to be.
So, now I'd like to share an experience with you regarding focus (I've shared this before). One night I was sitting at my computer, it was really late maybe 3 in the morning. Often times when I'm programming I get into this very focused state, concentrating intensely. Then my mind wondered and got stuck on the question of "should I proceed with this CD project i was contemplating doing", I was deeply focused on this question (for like maybe 2-3 minutes), I relate this to being in "the zone". Anyway, something broke my concentration and I had to use the bathroom. At the time I was living in an apartment and on the way to the bathroom I had to pass the front door. O.K. so here's the weird part, something caught me eye under the door. Stuck under the door is a CD (no case just a scratched up cd) by Guns and Roses titled "use your illusion"... Now, I could say "oh, that's just a coincidence" but, I know better than that

My point being, That at a certain level I believe that reality can be changed or altered by using only the mind. But, it will happen in such a way as to not totally freak you out. Meaning if that CD would have appeared on my desk out of thin air, that would have freaked me out. But, under my front door leaves me room to justify it. Allowing me to think that someone put it there as a prank or something, justifying the experience... Even though it just appeared into my reality "from nowhere"...

Another quote from (The science of getting rich): Chapter 4
Quote:
When man has a thought-form, he takes material from the forms of nature, and makes an image of the form which is in his mind. He has, so far, made little or no effort to co-operate with Formless Intelligence; to work "with the Father." He has not dreamed that he can "do what he seeth the Father doing." Man reshapes and modifies existing forms by manual labor; he has given no attention to the question whether he may not produce things from Formless Substance by communicating his thoughts to it.
Thanks for this thread and for listening...
