I think I gave up on girls in my mind many years ago. Don't do it. It will poison your mind so you won't even see a good change when it hits you in the face. And you'll start blaming women for your problems. At least that's what happened to me.
Trying too hard is bad, but giving up is equally bad. You gotta keep up the hope and playfulness! If you don't even try, you won't succeed.
