Yes, we are here to realize who we are. However we have Kharma ( past actions) that we have to undue. This usually is not from a past life but just ingrained belief systems we fail to see because they are so (harmful/disturbing) that we pretend they do not exist. Everytime we focus on something, it expands for everyone. We you put your attention on is what you "love." Even if it's fear, conspiracy, murder or violence. You bring more of it into the world for everyone. The end of the world is the end of dual subjective reality and the realization that all is one and we are all not ego's, but the universe itself staring at each other. Very similar to the idea of the Being John Malcovich where he goes down his own portal on floor 8 1/2 or whatever and he sees everyone as himself.
