As far as it not being a blog, here is a Wikapedia's definition of a blog: "A blog (a portmanteau of web log) is a website where entries are written in chronological order and commonly displayed in reverse chronological order."

Defining a blog is very difficult. It is more of a cultural thing than a technological.

I would like to ask what is an effective way to get traffic to a blog, but if people know that then they would not be saying that it is difficult to make money with a blog.

Normally the game is the following:
You write qualiy content.

Then other people or digg/del.ici.us/etc, link to your quality posts.

That drives visitors to your site.

If the visitors like what the get they subscribe. Then they might build a loyal readership, that inturn promotes your content.

Unfortunatly nobody can link to a single blog entry on your website. In addition your readers can't subscribe to your blog because it lacks RSS.

I do not understand how RSS works or what it is even though I know the definition.

You don't have to understand how it works when you use wordpress. The software simply does it for you.
