I remember an instance where I was talking to a Christian friend about (we were both prideful at the time, me being a steadfast Atheist, her being a fearful Sunday school teacher... of an existence of hell) about one of the reasons why I believed God did not exist.
I claimed that early on in the New Testamant Bible (can't remember the names) there were two brothers, one who plowed the field who grew veggies and another who raised cattle. The one who gave the meat offering to God was given a great reward and the other brother was given nothing, although he gave veggies to God. The veggie brother who received nothing killed the rewarded brother... and God ended up giving him (the murdering veggie man) a beautiful wife, money etc... which made no sense to me at the time, because it was a direct contradiction to Thou Shalt Not Kill... thereby making God a huge hypocrite.
I claimed something along the lines of... how is this proof of God's love? Love is not violence/killing. She could not answer, and she was going to teach a Sunday school class about that exact part the next day.
Now I realized that that part of the bible was there to help me, today, at this moment. Today, I suddenly remember this instance and I connected it with something I read from Jiddu Krishnamurti --> one does not need to meditate or not eat meat (for enlightenment). If you are already there unconditional love or peace or trancendence, it doesn't matter. It's not about that. It's about Choiceless Awareness, which is what Steve hopes to bring to everyone with his posts.
The reason for this post is that to understand for myself perhaps, that the reason why we should become vegetarians as highly conscious people is not for ourselves but for others --> it helps others raise their consciousness because it raises the energy levels tremendously when the diet is right. Since we already have that kind of energy, we don't necessarily need it, but the more we take in, the more we can give out... PLUS, the most important point is that we are all one consciousness and we influence the entire world to do the same by doing so ourselves. "Change others by changing yourself". Unconscious people NEED that burst of energy to take them up to unconditional love.
Thanks for taking the time to read this
