There is often a feeling of a cold wind around them, and the dream will probably have a crisp and clear feel to it. You will easily remember the entire experience, unlike in a dream where details are hazy. When you wake up it will feel like you simply opened your eyes, you won’t feel groggy and sleepy, in fact you could feel very energized. There are usually no other dream characters, just you and the dearly departed.

I experienced something exactly like that with someone who was alive...I was in Canada and he was in Finland and I was having a "real" dream, a normal dream that was suddenly interrupted and I suddenly found myself with this man, just the two of us in a certain place and the sound changed--like from being underwater in the normal dream, to coming out of the water, the sound got clear and I could feel the air and even smell his breath, which never happened to me in dreams before, and hasn't happened since. I could describe it more, but in a nutshell, it was just sort of a visit and no one spoke, I think feelings were exchanged in our glances only. He was working on something work-related. When I woke up from that, I swore I had been physically with him and I was ecstatic. But he is alive...was it something unusual, or just a unique dream?
