Because your wife's sex drive isn't as high as yours, and when she turns you down, you become angry or depressive, leading you to emotional blackmail and/or rape.
He doesn't say he wants to avoid sex; he says he wants to avoid
addiction to sex. And if you aren't able to be understanding and compassionate about sex, it can become a real problem in the relationship.
