This scale is used alot in feminist science. It is among the different gender-sexuality-spiritual-body concept abouit who you are and what you are thinking. If you pick up any feminist science work on what gender is and what sexuality is you will find this scale there. Not to forget this science is not seen as anti-masculintiy or manhood. It is just the way on how to get under the skin with how people can be so different and feel differnet. Like I guess that there was about 18 different ways of beeing. Transgender (if you are born in wrong body), sexuality (what you tend to love and wanna have sex with), spiritual (do you feel like a man or a woman) and the body-gender you have. All those things can differ and makes you a whole person. Also some of the feelings and such are connected to hormones, genes and enviroment. Go to an university library with extended works on gender and sexuality books on this matter and you will get a good grip on the stuff. I got a good grip on the stuff when I watched a Televised lectiure of this things during a whole day on SVT24 (the channel for news, long interweiws and facts and such in Sweden).
This model that I tell you about is a way of making it clear on how to describe people as full human beings in all those aspects so it is easier to know gender-spiritualy-body-sexuality.
Guess you can try Wikipedia...
