Thumbs down Hmmm... I'd be careful when trying out fasting. Here's why:

Note: This isn't so much a direct reply to Amadeus, but more of a reply to the thread in general.

I hate to rain on the “3 week” water fasting parade, but I can almost guarantee that this “diet” will only be sustainable for people of a certain body type (endomorphs and mesomorphs), those with a reasonable storage of body fat and/or muscle, and those who do very little, low intensity resistance training and strenuous exercise (in other words, don't try body building or weight/power lifting while only drinking water or you can say good bye to any gains you've made, and depending on the intensity of your training, probably your consciousness as you'll most likely find yourself passing out or at least, throwing up).

I don’t need to try out fasting to know that my body would die if I attempted to only drink water while maintaining a regular training routine (not die literally of course, but I wouldn't be far off it). As it is I already require a large amount of fluids even with eating, and I simply don’t have high enough body fat to not keel over due to lack of sustenance.

That said, I’m quite sure this “diet” is somewhat sustainable (albeit probably not that healthy in the long term) for those that fall into the categories I mention above, but for anyone else, I’m willing to bet you would start to encounter problems after your body had finished cannibalising itself after stripped you of most of your muscle mass and fat storage. Of course, there may be exceptions, and I'm sure someone could prove me wrong, but I'm speaking in general terms here.

Either way, take this post for what it is - my writing does not come close to constituting medical advice, nor do I have any experience with fasting itself. I'm merely using my current knowledge of the human body and drawing conclusions based on my experience and what physical training I have done (which, not to speak out of vanity or anything, is a fair bit).
