cbreeze, I know a LOT of people who move to the Bay Area after life changes, especially divorces, or if they're older, loss of a spouse. (I moved here after college.) I think you'd really like it. Well, I don't because I don't know you, but San Francisco is a FANTASTIC city. I live in the East Bay, and I think Berkeley or certain parts of Oakland would be really exciting, too. Depends on if you want urban, suburban, or something more natural, like Mendocino, Napa, Marin, etc. But the Bay Area in general is a good place to look. Can't speak for So. Cal.
