If you're that skeptical about this sort of thing, yet you try it, has your skepticism diminished any since starting to experiment?
THis is not aime at you at all, but I have found that skeptics I know personally tend to stay skeptical and not unbend even a little. If you're using the term to say "I'm not going to commit yet to belief in this stuff, but I probably will do and am looking forward to learning new stuff', that's great. However, the skeptics I know are of the type which say, 'I'm skeptical about this, and I'm not interested in finding things out which will tip up my beliefs so I'm never going to change.'
I think that one of the most liberating things is simply to decide that the scientific paradigm is just as valid as any other and not the only thing by which to judge the world. Once I got over that, I felt a lot better and had a lot more interesting experiences.
