I see your point, but there is the element of honor that should be considered when lying to a spouse. That is, if there is any honor in the relationship. Most of what people say is lies anyway, whether intentional or just because that is the way our culture communicates.
If everyone started telling the truth, after the chaos of the world adjusting itself was over, the world would be a perfect place. But there is too much at stake most of the time to tell the truth.
