Wink Google Adwords to Help Pick Article Headlines

I just used this again and thought I'd share. I know it's old news for some people. There can be a lot of thought that goes into title, or no thought, but I like a combination in between.

The last two times I was on the fence about an article title I went into Google Adwords and used the Keyword Tool to pick a better word over another.

I was just wrapping up an article about Building a Website VS. Designing a Website, and I was hung on the Building word. What are more people looking for online? Building a website, Creating a Website, or Making a website.

When you put all three in the tool, you find out that "Creating a Website," leads the pack by more than 2x's the others, at 1.2 Million global searches. "Building" would have been an awful choice.

BUT, when you look farther down at other keywords, you find out that "How to Make," and "How to Build a Website," are leading "Creating a Website" by over double also, at 2.7 Million for the lead.

So then I put in "How to Create a Website, How to Build..., and How to Make..." to see how all three ranked. How to Create a Website is the dominate, also at 2.7 Million, representing a GIGANTIC improvement over what my original idea was.

My final title changed to "How To Create A Website vs. Design A Website: Simplifying The Process." Notice now that it actually has the two best ranking words in its title. The second was more coincidence. What is notable though is that the tool showed me that by change the tense of the words, I will be among a better searched keyword.
