I actually tried living like that for a little while, and it was probably the most frustrating period of my life, and I hated myself for being so irrational and insane. Anyways glad thats over!! (No offense lol - if you have a way of making it work for you more power to you, its just I happen to be particularly skeptical and doubtful back then) |
Learning to trust that you are, in fact, receiving guidance takes time and patience. After all, it goes counter to everything you've been taught about how God and the universe work. It's a completely different mode of thinking about and perceiving the world, and yes, it can feel exactly like you're going insane, or falling into the worst sort of irrational "magical thinking."
So don't push it too hard. Recognize and accept what messages you can, as you can. Play with it. You'll figure it out eventually.
Part of it is learning to use your emotions as a guidance system, which goes against everything you've been taught (especially if you're male). And by that I don't mean wallowing in your feelings, but rather learning to see them as information. For example, if you've been offered a job that, on the surface, looks good, but when you think about it you feel depressed, tired, uninspired, trapped, or some other negative feeling, that's a sign that you shouldn't take it. If you get an idea for a business or creative project, and you feel excited and energized by it, that's a sign that you should put it into action.
Keep moving toward and embracing the things that bring up positive feelings for you, and avoid getting entangled in things that bring up feelings of fear, anger, shame, or other negative emotions. You might receive guidance through other means, but what Abe-Hicks calls the "emotional guidance system" is the most basic means of tapping in to divine guidance. If you can learn to use it effectively, that alone will be an enormous help to you.
