Ubermensch Day #45: Miyamoto Musashi

Meditate like a monk: meditated for 7 minutes. (total accumulated time: 66 minutes). Eyes opened or close? Eyes opened, as the old monk instructed. I practice inhaling, exhaling and counting 1 to 10. 1 for every exhale. I see why the monk instructs us to do this – it cultivates concentration, and less intrusive thoughts into the mind.

Exercise like a War God: I marched to the gym in pissing rain. I think God is trolling me. It’s warm for Dec 05 here in Canada land.

I have the exact same ritual before I hit the gym. My clothes and gym bag is always in order; it takes me 30 seconds to get dress and out of the house. I marched to the gym in pissing rain. To combat the misery, I put on happy music and think of my girlfriend. Ah, love is self hypnosis. “You and I” by Park Bom.

Today is over head press day; I pick up the weight like a war god and heave it into the air – in a controlled matter. Last week 50 pull ups and 50 dips was really tough, I felt like a pregnant lady struggling to finish the routine. This week was slightly easier, as I perform the pull ups and dips with demonic like determination.

Listen to self improvement audio: Watched “Unstoppable Affiliate” course by Andrew Handsen

Video #1: Offer research (20 minutes)
1. find a high converting offer
2. At least profitable keywords
3. Profitability analysis (will the offer convert? See someone’s else data)

Video #2: Competition spy (20 minutes)
1. Go to offervault.com to see current offers
2. Use Google adwords tool to see the keywords and monthly search volume
3. Landing page quality
4. Profitability test – check Adwords advertiser, or other affiliate ranking
5. Use Google insight/trend to see how sustainability of the offer

Read a fascinating book: Read 25 pages of Principles Of Social Competence by Manhood Academy (Progress: 175/181 pages | Real page count is 284 pages total).

In the final chapters of this book, the author demostrates the practical side of enforcing functional authority. This includes:
  • Avoid lies, mis-characterization, or denial
  • Make strangers feel welcome, speak plainly and direct, show affections and warn others of danger
  • Communication isn’t about data or information, it’s about the conveying and facilitation of order
  • Communication is also “your” personal intrepetion of experience and effectively expressing it. “Oh hey! I went for a run today in cold, Canadian weather. I had to double layer my pants or else my balls would shivel up like rasins”
  • Speak slow, be direct, be candid, be descriptive.
This book is a required reading for everyone (females included)

I always wonder why do bouncers in night club get hot women. Bouncers get paid relatively low wages and it’s a menial job. However, upon reflection I realize why women find bouncers attractive:

1. They exercise functional authority over a large crowd of people
2. They’re muscular. Muscles is a manifestation of order (discipline). Discipline to consistently hit the gym.

Learn a foreign language: Learned additive particle, 도 (too, also, etc), 를/을 (object particle), plus new words. 60 minutes (Total accumulated time starting at Dec 01 2011: 292 minutes)

Word of the day: morose – adjective - gloomily or sullenly ill-humored, as a person or mood, ex: “Yo yo, check out diss ♥♥♥♥♥ she da morose”

Building an online business (Yeah!):
I will finish watching the video marketing course (5 hours) from UnStoppableAffiliate.com ($97 marketing course), after that, I will immediately implement what I learn. Today I will put $30 into namecheap.com. That would allow me to purchase 10 .info domain names to develop new websites and test out what I learn from the course.

Watch something inspiration: Watched 1 episode of Serial Experiments Lain (13/13 episodes). Oh god, this anime is a mind ♥♥♥♥. I have to re-watch the whole thing 5 times if I want to truely instead the depth of this series. In the end, Lain turns out to be a computer program – or is she? The anime is trying to convey there is more then just the physical world. Perhaps the “Wire” isn’t the Internet I was talking about, but a metaphor for the spiritual world. Lain had many versions of her, and she did look like an apparition at some parts. Lain copy #1 told the other Lain: “Well, it’s nice that we closed down the wire world to the real world isn’t it? They won’t be able to see us anymore”.

Daily Conclusion – what Ubermensch thinks:

Miyamoto Musashi – the original gangster of Japan. As a clueless teenager, I read his book but did not grasp the depth of his wisdom. 5 years later, I’m re-reading his books and his words slice my mind, like a sharp katana.

“Do nothing that is of no use”

How I implemented it: no video games, ditched a bunch of useless friends, not mingling with losers, ditched a bunch of women [that isn't going anywhere], no wasted Internet time, every activity is analyzed and questioned of it’s usefulness.

“Never stray from the Way.”

How I implemented it: Habits. A stead fast, unwavering commitment to life goals. Practically speaking – doing daily habits that amounts to something big overtime.

“there is nothing outside of yourself that can ever enable you to get better, stronger, richer, quicker, or smarter. Everything is within. Everything exists. Seek nothing outside of yourself.”

How I implemented it: Intuitively knowing that life (or society, friends, or parents) doesn’t owe you ♥♥♥♥. If I want to make something happen, I must be the one to set foot and do it. This is the method to beat procrastination and live a life of how I want it to be.

“Today is victory over yourself of yesterday; tomorrow is your victory over lesser men.”

How I implemented it: checking off the daily habits. For some people, their victory is going for a run. Others is stop eating junkfood. It reminds me of the other adage: “Do what others won’t do today, so you can live life tomorrow how others can’t”.
