I don't know about a quota, but it looks like it's legally acceptable to have a gender qualification for a particular position as long as you also have non-gender specific positions available, too.
It's not illegal, for instance, to specify that all your topless dancers be female, as long as you're busperson/dishwasher/management jobs are open to both men and women.
In Babuji's example of the military school, that's not a private company, but a government sponsored or supported institution. You can't disallow women from a school that's receiving federal funds. When Hooters starts accepting federal tax dollars, they might have to start hiring male waitstaff, too. |
