I feel like a creep because I've been stalking this thread, so I thought I'd say hi! HI!

Good luck Countrygal and Waterfaster and Ivy!

I do have a totally valid question about this that may seem negative, but I do not mean it that way at all because I've been a little curious about fasting lately. A friend and I actually had a bit of a discussion about it not too long ago in which I'd try to convince him not to fast for long periods of time due to crash dieting experiences I've had in my past which I think could have helped me actually gain weight in the long run. He might pinch me if he sees that I'm thinking about fasting now! LOL!

So you know how if you crash diet, basically starving yourself, as soon as you break and start eating normally again you seem to gain all the weight back and more? Yeah, for a period of about 5 years I did that off and on and managed to put on a lot of weight (lose 10, gain 15 back, lose 15, gain 20 back...so on and so forth) that I am working diligently at taking off right now in a HEALTHY manner (as opposed to crashing like I did before).

Does this work the same way with water fasting? I would think that causing your body to force itself into starvation mode would cause you to hang on to every single calorie you ingest as fat after you start eating again.

The only reason I was wondering is I was thinking about trying this to help with some of my own health issues (one of which actually does cause weight gain, so I'd really love to throw that booger out the window for good), but I really don't want a weight gain side effect.

Man, I don't think there is anyway I could do 30 days, so you guys are some hardcore troopers, I have to hand it to you. I was thinking more like starting with 3 days or so. LOL.
