That's a pretty good point - I think for most people rep is used as a way of sending good energy, or occasionally bad energy - love or hate in other words. That's actually not what the official take on rep is though. Officially rep is supposed to be a way of measuring the value of a poster's contribution to the site, right? So that people can look at them and see that they have been a positive influence in the forum. It rarely works out that way in practise, though.
