Uplift is on a distinguished road

I have to write this, it's hilarious to me. And really amasing. Plus the only reason I wouldn't is fear of bringing disrepute on the other posters, and an attack on the thread.

That video got me really interested. Reminds me of Sai Baba, and what he talks about, and more what I learned, am learning. So I looked at the links. That tree!

A few months ago we were all talking at the beach, about surfing and grommets, kids who surf. How much detail we went into then, even over a block of wax. How we would just smell it, and touch it, all our wild dreams, and how absorbed we were with the details. How much and how rapidly our surfing would improve, all the amasing experiences we would have. That got me thinking about my boards, and we talked about how we would drive the shapers mad with detail, spray jobs, individual design, and how we would get these magic boards. I used to look at, touch, smell imagine the things for hours, days, years, I wanted to surf forever. I do. Nowadays shaping is going computerised, and we tend to just grab something that seems good, from a good shaper. We hardly notice our boards anymore...almost allowing our thoughts to be jaded.

So, I decided on a magic board. I chose the colour of my all time favourite. Thought heaps about what I liked most in surfing, what I wanted to improve... the possibilities are endless. I dreamed about it heaps. I felt like a grommet. Our waves here are life and death when they pump, and we tend to be sort of fussy with shapers anyway, but I wanted the perfect shaper for me, and the waves. I'm 6' 225lbs, and thats a rarity in modern surfing, so lots of shapers really don't get the implications of it. I visualised the perfect shaper, my dream shaper, as part of the overall picture of surfing the dream board. I saw this picture of a beautiful coloured board...with this tree on it in a magazine article. I'd never seen or noticed the tree before, but it appealled to me. It turns out he came from another part of Oz, ulladulla, where the waves are really like ours. He had heard all about Black's, been to Hawaii heaps, and had been hand shaping for decades. We were really on the same wavelength, relating same experiences, and he made heaps of boards for bigger guys over the years. He had a range of stickers, and I said I really liked the tree. Use that tree. Add whatever you feel to my ideas, I trust you.

Its the best board I've ever had! A dream board, even though the shape looks a bit different and had some new ideas. My mates all comment on the tree. Only the other day we were talking about it, and what it might mean to the shaper.

Just after I watched the video, my wife comes in really happy and is telling me about how a few days ago she got this urge to incorporate the idea of roots and a tree in her meditations, and how she thought it was funny that the group of ladies she met with today were all suddenly talking about trees. When I showed her the video, then the symbol on the link and my surfboard bit, we just laughed.

I love all this stuff and where it leads. I love feeling amased, and I love amasing results. Its the stuff of dreams. Childs play. Thanks for the thread and video.
