Default Biphasic partner?

Looks like this thread is pretty on-and-off right now! But I figured I'd post this in case anyone is still reading:

I'm looking to go biphasic but I am terrible at that most necessary skill— getting out of bed in the first place (I'm a freelancer and thus don't have any external constraint on my sleeping time). I'm wondering if anyone else is trying out biphasic right now, so we could share our experiences/successes/failures and, more important, keep each other a little accountable.

I've tried it a few times, but usually stop because I oversleep too much for a day or two, napping becomes difficult, and I get discouraged. I am now trying to do a nap only about 3 hours after waking up -- so sleeping from 12-5:30, exercising, eating breakfast and preparing for the day, then napping from 8-9:30. My sleep cycles are about 1:20, and I used to need only 6:40 when I was working a 9-5 job (best of times, worst of times...), so this is really just a way of getting me out of bed at a consistent time (i.e. 5:30 AM instead of 8, 9, 10, whatever...)

I might try to push the nap time back from there to make it more 'properly' biphasic -- but has anyone had any experience with taking a nap earlier in the day?
