As a former recipient of money to get me out of trouble, financial and otherwise - handouts from friends etc. - I have to respectfully disagree. The money allowed me to survive until my sense of personal responsibility kicked in. Denying the money to me wouldn't have hastened that process.

Having said that, I don't have an opinion whether you should give away some of the money or not. It's your money.

I second the What Not to Wear recommendation. They can be a bit snarky, but I like their advice overall. Also, check out this Christine Kane article - it sounds like just what you need to read right about now! She makes some book recommendations about how to choose clothing... one of them sounds quite deep! Make sure to read the comments after the article, too - good stuff to consider in there!
