I'll use today's $5,000 on a new bed! With the boy being over 6'6 we definitely want a California King size. I'm surprised with how ambivalent the reviews are for multiple-thousand-dollar mattresses out there. Spa Sensations seem to have the most consistently satisfied customers out there. And they're not at all as expensive as I expected.
Next, for beddings, the most comfortable comforter and pillows I have ever slept in, by far, were at the Fullon Hotel Taipei so I'll check what they use (I'm surprised over and over by how many high end hotels do not have comfortable beddings).
Guess I have a lot more money to enjoy than I expected! I will get custom-made curtains and quilts at my local tailor. I also want 2 barstools for my kitchen counter, and a new coffee table, like so:
