Interesting. I went through the steps and was not at all surprised to see what came out of it, but I'm probably more aware than a lot of people. Still, it was interesting to see the themes repeated in the movies I favour.
It also indicated to me that it's time to let go of a particular theme in my life. I've been moving that way for a while, but seeing the same theme yet again made me kind of sigh and say to myself, "Yeah, okay, let's try something different now." So that was good.
I enjoyed the examples you gave from your own life, very helpful in understanding the process and how the films might be interpreted. (Glad to see you got the girl, but now I have that Hawaiian version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" stuck in my head!)
Oh, btw, Star Wars, Hero's Journey, uh.... yeah. Obviously.

One thing I might add is that you say to pick films that "inspire". I couldn't think of many, but I went with those. I actually have a lot of films I enjoy and have watched over and over, but they're not "inspiring", I just like them. I might go back and look at those with this same process later, but you might want to rethink "inspiring" because that's a very specific adjective and for me, it limited the scope of what came to mind.
I may do the process again with a wider range of favourite films (and not rely so much on being "inspired"

).
