I wonder if it's one of these tropes that we tend to repeat about our partners whether they're true or not, just because it gives a ready-made excuse to b<3tch about them without having to think too hard. Like that, we women can all complain about how useless men are and all be miserable together and not give a thought to whether it's true and whether we want to do something about it.
