This morning I stumbled upon the web site Military.com while doing an unrelated search. As far as I know, I’ve never been to the site before, but I had to do a double-take when I saw it.
Take a look at the partial screen shot of their home page below (from Oct 26, 2006), and see if you notice anything unusual about it.
Take your time…

Just in case you’re a little slow, the headline of the article is “Four Marines, One Sailor Killed.” Meanwhile the tagline below the site’s logo is “All the Benefits of Service.”
I can just imagine this conversation in the military recruiter’s office:
New Recruit: So what kind of benefits can you offer me?
Recruiter: Death.
New Recruit: Death is a benefit?
Recruiter: It is once you’ve spent a year in Iraq.
Methinks the military has become a little too woo-woo for my tastes.
