[...] Right now, the most common beliefs are those shared by society, that a person should get a job, suffer under a boss for a few years, become a manager, and suffern under even more bosses, eventually ending up pretty close to answering to a board of directors, who answer to shareholders. What if someone were to challenge that belief? Many people have, and they have ended up as either jobless, or entrepreneurs. Another belief is that a business must be centered around money, and that any values or common decency take a back seat to profits. Steve Pavlina has proven that wrong; he is making more money than he knows what to do with, but his business hasn’t violated his values once. In fact, his business is an extension of his values, with profit being a secondary bonus. There are other beliefs out there that have notable exceptions as well, but we’re all brought up not to question our beliefs. In fact, that is one of the first beliefs that have to go if you’re ready to question your other beliefs. Would Columbus have sailed the open oceans in search of India if he didn’t challenge his beliefs about the world being flat? Would the Wright Brothers have built a powered airplane if they stuck to the belief that man couldn’t fly?
[...] Steve Pavlina recently posted on his blog asking people’s opinions about what he should do with excess money (my term, not his). Congratulations to Steve for achieving such financial abundance. Steve is in the wonderful position of making significantly more money than he needs to live. We’re not just talking living below your means, but rather living below your means with a lot to spare. Once you’re in this position you can really use money to build a legacy. His question brings up an interesting point that applies not only to people with financial abundance but to even those buried in debt; where you spend money is a reflection of your values.
[...] The other person is Steve Pavlina who is more successful than Yaro (but also a few years older), and occassionally writes about his business philosophy as part of his self development site. Steve says he works 12 hour days at the moment, but only because he loves what he is doing. He actually has more money he knows what to do with and could maintain that income with far less work than he currently employs. But he is not a millionnair, he just favours fun over material goods.
