StevePavlina.com Personal Development for Smart People podcast #15:  What Is Your Purpose?

This was one of my favorite podcasts to record because it takes the high concept of purpose and brings it down to the level of practical application.  If you’ve completed the exercise on discovering your life purpose, then you already have a general purpose statement for your life.  This podcast explains how to take that general purpose and turn it into a more specific one, such that you can realistically reach the delightful position of being able to make a great living while doing work that deeply fulfills and inspires you.

Here are some additional resources to help you along your path to purpose:

[…] So I finally tried the Life Purpose Exercise on Stevepavlina.com. It’s an interesting exercise which I read a while ago, but never actually did. Last night I was in a still and very quiet mind set and mood and after seeing the podcast on Purpose I decided it would be advantageous to actually do the exercise before listening to the podcast, so I gave it a try. I don’t think I went in with any expectations. Although, I have to admit that the first time I saw it I thought, it really couldn’t be this simple. Not when people are spending millions of dollars in seminars and self-help books (myself included) to discover this. It just couldn’t be this simple. […]

Says:

    Layers of purpose

I listened to Steve Pavlina’s podcast about finding one’s specific purpose, and it got me thinking (as his work often does). He distinguishes ’specific’ from ‘universal purpose’: universal purpose may be true throug…

  7. Scott H Young » Deciding What to Do With Your Life Says:

[…] Looking where your purpose overlaps your passion lies the answer of what to do. Steve Pavlina breaks purpose down into four layers of what you need to do, what you have the skills to do, what you want to do and finally what you should do. The answer is fairly similar in deciding what you should do right now. It is where your needs, your abilities, your desires and ability to serve coincide. […]
