Hi Steve,

There is actually a method of psychology in Japan known as Naikan which was developed to stimulate the same kind of attitude you displayed in your story. It all has to do with attention. Too often our attention is riveted to problems and obstacles and we simply don’t pay attention to how we are supported by the world around us.
It would be great if more people took time to reflect on their experiences (like you did above) and be more appreciative and complain less.

Well Fredrik, Steve inspires the rest of us, and you know, there is a “back” button on your browser. If you don’t like what you are reading, there is no natural law saying you can’t just press that button and go on with your life!

Steve, I love this story. I tend to feel that after great “adversities” great things tend to happen in my life. Maybe because I’m more open to them…
