Steve,

I have a few ideas for you.

Joel of "Joel on Software" recently published a book with his best blog entries. Ultimately, I think you could do something similar. However, this won't work in the short run because your blog is still too new.

Since you are technically oriented, could you do something that involves interactive media? For instance, most info books have exercises. Maybe your e-books could drive automatically score exercises or adjust content based on the weaknesses identified by certain exercises?

Perhaps you could combine the speaking/publishing idea by selling video talks online with streaming video? Is anybody doing this now?

Finally, you probably have various topics in mind for your first info product. Maybe you should do an online survey here on your blog to find out what people are most interested in?

Good luck!

Great post, Steve. As an entrepreneur in a service industry, I really appreciate information like this from someone who's been in the trenches. I thought Seth Godin was over-hyped, but I've only read The Big Red Fez. I'll be sure to check out his other books along with Jay Abraham's material.

Personally, I've found Harry Beckwith's books to be great. Selling the Invisible and his other two. They contain short bits of wisdom from a marketer focusing on the service industry (along with ideas to apply in real-life).

Thanks for your great articles Steve. I look forward to buying a product from you, hopefully in MP3/PDF format.
