Steve,

This was a wonderful and thoughtful read. You provided some great suggestions (questions) and food for thought in regards to journaling. The link to 'The Journal' was a perfect tool for me to begin using and organizing my 'brain schplurts' and/or what I like to call 'Heart Art', which I have in various folders on my computer - chaotic organization comes to mind. I look forward to organizing these folders.

As a side note:
The picture you shared of you and your wife is beautiful - your wife is lovely. She has a kind and heart warming smile.

Reading from afar and yet near in Heart,

You know, I've been meaning to do this for years. In fact, when I was young (but undoubtedly old enough to come up with this), I thought I should keep a journal so that if I had kids, I would have an insight into what I was thinking at that age. It's too late for that, but I'm about to go solve the problem--I forget far too many of my life experiences, and this would of course be an excellent way to reclaim otherwise lost chunks of memory, aid in decision making, and learh from my mistakes.

Writing mini-essays and articles (either private or public) is also a great way to quickly explore issues and problems. I've noticed that many people use blogs for this very purpose, with the benefits of (a) getting feedback and interaction, and (b) being held to account for what they write (thereby keeping them honest).

Paul Graham talks a bit about this in <a href="http://www.paulgraham.com/essay.html" title="The Age of the Essay">.</a>

Serializing thoughts is often helpful in making a decision or solving a problem. Sometimes asking the question, "How would I describe this to someone else?" is enough to get me out of circular thinking, because it forces me to put my thoughts in order.
