When having to do a very difficult task, I often split it into subtasks A, B, C, D, etc, and then schedule each task in a separate day. I make sure to schedule nothing else in those days except the things I absolutely have to do, so every day contains the difficult subtask (A, B, C or D) and as little work as possible. Also, before doing a difficult subtask, I make sure to take a large meal and drink lots of coffee.

I know my method is rather extreme, but it helped me do a lot of things that I consider very unconfortable, but with high benefits.

I very much enjoyed this post. I like to say that motivation definately follows action. And just doing something can start the productivity for hours and hours. Of course sometimes I get in a little jam where I procrastinate and say "I'll just do it later, after all, I think I can do intense long hours with that theory", in which later I end up not doing the long hours...

Looking forward to your next post!

P.S. Is it me or does that saying "waking up early makes you wealthy healthy and wise" really come true?

"(choosing positive words to describe your situation as opposed to negative words, as in, “I’m have a fantastic day")"

"The problem is that most people unknowingly conditioning behaviors that will guarantee mediocre results."

Looking at the grammatical errors, it looks like you might have needed to sleep in until 8AM. B-)

Seriously though, it was a good article. Being willing to do things that are productive assumes you know what are the productive actions you should be taking. Lists were mentioned here before, and I've found that just having a loose list of things I want to accomplish that I look at periodically throughout the week helps me to not only remember what it is I have to do but also pushes me to do things that help me get things off my list.

Without the list, I would probably have a general idea of what it is I need to do, but there is the chance that I would forget something. I might also find myself doing things that aren't very productive at all, like reading Slashdot instead of reading a book on software development or my homework.
