Ouch. That one hurts because it is so true. I have completely failed to market myself in a busieness that almost completely depends on personal contacts to get anything done [I am not a game designer, but a composer and conductor of classical music]. And, of course, I know that. It is that courage issue biting me in the butt again.

Damn.

Not any more.

Time to log off the net... Bye! : )

Your new blog is wonderful, Steve. It seems we're going to get almost one new article per day now! :) Even though the subject this time has many similarities with the modeling approach in your previous post.

It's funny because I just started yesterday to improve my game a little bit, one month after release (and almost no sales). But the internet connection was broken, so I have an excuse for not spending the day marketing on the net ;).

It's not easy to know when the product (game) is good enough, or if it still needs improvements...

Good question, I have the same problem. As well, once you DO find someone with the experience that would help, what questions do you ask? I'm at the stage now where I have a product for sale, but the sales are dismal. Do I ask general questions like "how do I improve my sales?" or do I try to be more specific? General questions are easy to think up. Specific questions aren't.

Excellent point Steve. Personally the intimidation factor is a big thing for me. Also, I find it difficult to actually narrow down people that are at the place that I want to be (at least financially, I have used the modeling technique for technical development). Any tips on how you determined who to ask advice from?
